A clearer picture before you begin.

Useful answers to help you plan your project. For anything specific to your property, give us a call or send an enquiry.

Before you start

What would you like to know?

What landscaping work does DWE do?

We work on complete garden transformations and individual projects, including garden design, porcelain patios, paths, driveways, block paving, turfing, planting, fencing, decking and stonework. We also welcome commercial landscaping enquiries.

Where do you work?

We are based in Whalley and cover Clitheroe, Pendle, Skipton, Ilkley, Harrogate, Bury, St Annes, Leeds and Manchester. Tell us the project postcode so we can discuss access, scope and arrangements for a visit.

Is the initial quote free?

Yes. We offer free, no-obligation project quotes. The work included, material choices and any specialist requirements are discussed before a price is agreed.

What should I send with my enquiry?

Your postcode, a short description of the work and approximate dimensions are a useful start. Mention any access restrictions, changes of level and timing priorities. If you have photographs, tell us and we can agree the best way to share them.

Can you work with a garden design I already have?

Tell us about any existing drawings, specifications or material choices when you enquire. We can review the proposed work and discuss the practical scope, access and any information needed before quoting.

Can a garden be completed in stages?

Phased work can be discussed. It helps to agree the overall layout first, because access, preparation and the way materials meet can affect the sequence of the work.

How much will my landscaping project cost?

Cost depends on the size and condition of the site, access, preparation, materials and the work included. Photographs can start the discussion, but a site-specific quote is more useful than a generic price per square metre.

How long will the work take?

Timing depends on the agreed scope, site conditions, materials and availability. We will discuss a proposed programme for your particular project; weather and unexpected site conditions may affect it.

Do you work on commercial properties?

Yes. We welcome enquiries about outdoor areas, entrances, paths, boundaries and other landscaping at commercial properties. Include information about public access, deliveries and any operating hours that the works need to fit around.

Do I need permission for my project?

Requirements depend on the property and proposed work. Boundary changes, structures, driveway access and listed or protected sites may need additional checks. Raise these at the start and confirm any necessary permissions with the relevant authority before work begins.

Can you help with material choices?

Yes. We can discuss how paving, timber, stone and planting would work together. Your priorities for appearance, upkeep, budget and use help narrow the choices.

How do I look after a new patio or lawn?

Care depends on the material or planting installed. Ask for the relevant product and aftercare information for your project. We can discuss upkeep expectations when you choose the surfaces and planting.
