A clean finish. A considered foundation.

Porcelain patios

A porcelain patio can give your garden a crisp, contemporary centrepiece. Large-format paving, carefully chosen tones and a defined border create a setting for everything from a morning coffee to a table full of friends. DWE Landscapes & Design plans and installs patios as individual projects and as part of complete garden transformations.

Choose the space before the tile

The right patio starts with its purpose. A dining table needs room around the chairs, while a lounge setting has a different footprint. We discuss how many people you want to seat, the route from the house and whether you want a single main terrace or smaller connected areas.

Think about what you want to see from the patio as well as where it sits. A planted edge can soften a broad paved area; a contrasting border can give it definition. Matching every surface is not essential, but the paving should have a clear relationship with the house and the rest of the garden.

Find a finish that suits the garden

Porcelain offers a wide range of appearances, from restrained stone effects to more expressive veining. The size and pattern of the paving affect the overall look, and samples are useful for understanding colour in outdoor light. A finish that looks calm in a small sample may feel quite different across a whole terrace.

Products need to be suitable for their intended outdoor use. We can discuss the proposed paving and the questions to resolve before ordering, including surface texture and the supplier's care guidance. Porcelain still needs cleaning; fallen leaves, dirt and spills should be managed as part of normal garden upkeep.

The direction of the laying pattern can influence how the terrace reads from the house. Consider the view through doors and windows, especially when the patio sits immediately outside a living space. An uncluttered layout and well-judged joints can let the furniture and planting take the lead.

Pay attention to the details around it

The finished surface is only one part of patio work. Preparation, levels, water management and how the paving meets doors, paths and borders all need consideration. Existing paving is not automatically a suitable base for a new patio, so the installation approach should follow an assessment of the site.

Our quote conversation covers the area, access, existing surface and any associated edging, steps or planting you want included. If the new patio forms part of a wider garden plan, it helps to discuss those later stages at the same time. We offer free, no-obligation quotes so you can understand the scope before deciding.

Before you start

A few useful answers.

Is porcelain paving maintenance-free?

No outdoor surface is maintenance-free. Porcelain needs routine cleaning and care appropriate to the chosen product. We recommend following the paving supplier's instructions for cleaning products and methods.

Can I have a contrasting patio border?

Yes, a border can help define the seating area or connect it visually to other garden features. We can discuss colours, proportions and how the border meets the surrounding surfaces.

Can you replace my existing patio?

Yes, patio replacement can be included in the project. The existing surface and underlying conditions need assessment so removal, preparation and the new installation are properly included in the quote.
